TROPIC FALLS AT OWA
When the Poarch Band of Creek Indians decided to rebrand and expand their existing retail and entertainment hub OWA in Foley, Alabama, they approached the newly formed Design Yoo Sonderman for help. One of the challenges was to transform the relatively mundane amusement park into a themed tropical getaway while adding a new indoor waterpark and outdoor wave pool complex. Signage was only a component of reinventing the environment for guests from the moment they approach the entry gates. Design Yoo Sonderman worked to reface the entire entry experience and coordinated closely with Dale Partners Architects to revive all of the existing buildings with bold colors, patterns, and themed materials. Custom signage and identities were developed for all of the amenities. The main attraction, the indoor water park, was draped in huge supergraphic tropical patterns and tiki-style graphics to enliven and contrast the very modern space.
Outside of the newly developed theme park, Design Yoo Sonderman also helped in rebranding the OWA Parks and Resort retail Town Center and destination Resort as a whole. Renovated site signage, Town Center entry identities and architectural renovations were developed to enhance the visitor experience and relay more of an established coastal city feel.
